Which HVAC rebate you can use around Claremore depends on who sends you the bill. PSO, Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) and Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative (VVEC) each run their own program with their own rules, and a home often fits only one of them.
We leave amounts off this page on purpose. Programs change, funds run out, and the only figure worth trusting is the one on the utility's own page, so every program below links there.
Who is my electric provider in Claremore?
Start with your electric bill. In the city of Claremore, electricity comes from Claremore Electric, which is owned by the city. It buys its power from the Grand River Dam Authority and delivers it to homes and businesses. That matters because PSO rebates are for PSO customers. If your bill says Claremore Electric, a PSO equipment rebate does not apply to your house. Ask Claremore Electric directly whether it has an equipment program: Claremore Electric.
Outside the city limits, and in nearby towns, the provider changes. Around Claremore you will find PSO in places like Inola, Catoosa, Foyil and Oologah, and VVEC serving members in Nowata, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington counties. Owasso has a split, with both PSO and VVEC. The boundaries run street by street, so use the account number on your bill, not the town name, to decide.
Your gas provider is a separate question. Natural gas around Claremore is usually ONG, but check your gas bill. Some rural homes heat with propane, which none of these three programs cover.
What does the PSO rebate program cover?
PSO runs its rebates through its Power Forward program, and the PSO rebates page lists what is open. It includes air source heat pumps, ductless mini splits, central air conditioners and tune-ups, each with its own efficiency tier.
What to know before you buy:
- The home has to be in PSO territory and you need a valid PSO account number.
- Equipment must be ENERGY STAR certified.
- Mobile homes, manufactured homes and multifamily installations do not qualify.
- Equipment that was already incentivized by a PSO energy efficiency program is not eligible again.
Because the tiers depend on efficiency ratings, ask us for the model numbers of any quote and check them against the PSO page before you sign.
What does the Oklahoma Natural Gas rebate cover?
ONG offers a heating system rebate for natural gas furnaces and boilers, including some replacements of electric heat. The rules on that page:
- You need an active ONG account.
- The work has to be done by an Oklahoma licensed contractor.
- You apply within 180 days of the install.
- Funds are limited and go first come, first served until the program money is gone.
The first come, first served rule is what catches people. If you are replacing a furnace this winter, read the page before you schedule, and check whether the program is still taking applications. See our heating page for the furnace work we do.
What does VVEC offer?
If VVEC is your electric co-op, its rebates page covers heat pump projects and a few related items. For equipment, the page asks for ENERGY STAR models that meet VVEC's efficiency minimums, and some programs require a certified dealer. Terms can change, so read the page for the current version rather than trusting a flyer or an older post.
What about the electric co-ops and utilities that are not on this list?
Other utilities near Claremore run their own programs, and some towns around us are served by a co-op or a city utility we have not covered here. Look up your electric provider by name and search for its rebate page. If you cannot find one, call the utility and ask. A missing page does not always mean no program, and a page that is still online does not always mean the program is open.
How do I get a rebate without losing it?
Most rebates fail on paperwork, not eligibility.
- Read the program page before you buy equipment, not after.
- Ask your contractor which model numbers qualify. The brand alone is not enough.
- Keep the invoice, the model and serial numbers, and the install date.
- Watch the deadline and whether funds remain.
Tell us who your electric and gas providers are when you ask for a visit. We will go over the equipment that fits your home and which of these pages to check. We cannot promise any rebate, because the utility decides.
Are there manufacturer offers too?
Equipment makers sometimes run their own offers through dealers, on dates they set. We list what is open right now on our offers page. We are an authorized independent Trane dealer, so our Trane page shows what we can quote. If the project is bigger than a rebate covers, our financing page has the pre-apply link.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a PSO rebate if my power comes from Claremore Electric?
No. PSO rebates are for PSO customers with a valid PSO account. Claremore Electric is a separate, city owned utility, so ask it directly about equipment programs.
Do I need a licensed contractor to get an ONG rebate?
Yes. The ONG page requires the work to be done by an Oklahoma licensed contractor, and you apply within 180 days of the install.
Do these programs pay for a new air conditioner?
It depends on the utility and the equipment. PSO lists central air conditioners among its programs. ONG covers natural gas heating equipment. VVEC's page lists heat pump programs. Check the page for your utility.
Are rebate amounts on this page?
No. Amounts and end dates change, so we link to each program instead. The utility's page is the source to trust.
Can you tell me which rebate I will get?
No. We can tell you which pages to check and which models to ask about, but the utility decides who qualifies.
